What it helps with and what to check

Good tasks to start with

  • Short social video experiments
  • Quick effects and image-to-video ideas

Keep an eye on

  • Credit use depends on the selected model
  • Review likeness and source-image rights

How to start

Tick each step as you work. These checks stay on this page only; they do not verify results in the external tool.

0 of 6 steps checked

1

Choose one small shot in Pika

Make a short practice clip: a red paper boat moving across a bowl of water. Use text alone, or a photo you made and may upload. Keep client work, private material and real people's faces out of this exercise. The aim is one usable shot, not a complete announcement.

2

Describe the scene and one movement

Open Pika on the web. In “Describe your story…”, try: “One red paper boat floats slowly from left to right across a plain white bowl of water. The camera stays still. Soft daylight. No people, words or logos.” If using your own photo, choose “Attach image”; describe its movement rather than asking for a different scene. Keep a copy of the prompt.

3

Confirm the settings before generating

The public entry shows “5s”, “Pika 2.5” and “Generate”. Sign in if asked, then check the model, duration, resolution and credit cost shown in your account before generating. Use a short duration for this practice. If access or credits stop you, keep the prepared prompt and return later; preparation is not a generated clip. Do not buy a plan just to tick this step.

4

Inspect the shot, then change one thing

Play the finished preview. Is there one boat, moving in the intended direction, with a still camera and no unwanted text? Watch for objects appearing, changing shape or jumping between frames. If the scene is too busy, simplify the prompt; if the camera moves, make the fixed-camera instruction clearer. Change one instruction per attempt so you can compare the effect, and check the cost before another generation.

5

Check the actual saved file

Use the download offered by your account and open the saved file. Check that it plays, has the expected duration, and keeps the shot you selected. Look for a watermark and listen for audio; do not assume the preview, direct-share version and download have identical properties. If no usable download is available, stop here. Check current plan terms before any public or commercial use; the older FAQ and pricing page disagree on some features.

6

Turn the shot into a spoken video

A short shot is footage, not a finished announcement. Continue to the captioned-video Task for the existing assembly and narration route: build a 20–30-second sequence, add clear speech from your checked script, then generate and review captions in wide.video. Follow its recovery choice if the source is silent or too short. Keep the original clip and prompt; finishing Pika's checklist does not finish the captioned-video Task.
