How to start
Tick each step as you work. These checks stay on this page only; they do not verify results in the external tool.

Choose how to practise
For the Sudowrite route, open the tool and check your account's actual access and mode. In an accessible project, use Add New to create a document and paste the practice scene into Editor. Use only this fictional text or writing you may share. You can instead revise by hand in this worksheet, or copy the preparation material and stop. No purchase is required to practise here; choosing a route does not verify a provider run.
Decide what the story must keep
Use the practice-scene button, then read the paragraph and its keep-list. The narrator waits outside a closed bakery with a blue envelope in a coat pocket. Rain falls, the light comes on and nobody knocks. The envelope's contents and the person inside remain unknown. You may edit the source and keep-list together for your own short scene. One paragraph is enough; the bakery can wait, and so can the trilogy.
Ask for just one change
Highlight the short paragraph in Sudowrite's Editor. Choose Quick Edit in the Selection Menu, or use Ctrl+K / Cmd+K, and paste the editing instruction below. Quick Edit supports selections up to 1,000 words; keep this exercise to one paragraph. Leave optional High Quality off for this basic exercise and check the account's current mode before running. Do not choose Write: that feature continues a story instead of editing the selected passage. If Quick Edit is missing, open the question-mark Resources menu and Quickstart Tour, then compare the current help. If the feature is unavailable, return to the first step and choose manual practice or preparation.
Compare before accepting
Read the struck-through original and the suggestion in Quick Edit. Paste the actual suggestion below, or your own manually written candidate. Authored comparison, not a Sudowrite output: “I waited outside the closed bakery with a blue envelope in my coat. Rain ticked against the metal awning. The light inside came on. I kept my hand in my pocket and did not knock. My thumb pressed a crease into the envelope's corner.” Wrong example: “She knocked and handed the red envelope to the baker.” Reject it: narrator, colour, action and encounter changed. Another wrong example: “I was anxious, worried and very nervous.” This adds emotion labels; ask for one small physical action instead. Smooth prose does not get to rewrite the plot behind your back.
Keep the author's decision
Accept a suggestion in Sudowrite only if it fits, or reject it and revise the original yourself. Paste the final paragraph and explain one change you kept or rejected. Check it against the whole keep-list, not just the new last sentence. Keep the final version to 90 words or fewer for this exercise. If a check fails, revise the paragraph before marking it reviewed. Neither an assistant's suggestion nor this checklist certifies originality.
Keep what helped
Copy the original, keep-list, candidate, final paragraph and decision note before leaving. The record states whether you used Sudowrite or edited by hand. It is a worksheet record, not a verified Sudowrite document export or permission to publish. Return to the Sudowrite Tool page, or start this exercise again with another short paragraph. Keep the editing habit; you do not have to keep every suggestion.
