What it helps with and what to check
Good tasks to start with
- Checking a claim against a supplied source
- Finding original sources for a narrow question
- Preparing a claim-to-source checklist
Keep an eye on
- Social posts are not automatically reliable sources
- Access and limits vary by account and region
- Check sensitive-data settings before work use
How to start
Tick each step as you work. These checks stay on this page only; they do not verify results in the external tool.

Choose one claim you can check
Start with one paragraph and the original source you are allowed to use. Write down the question, source title and relevant section. For example, distinguish “18 of 24 people reported more confidence” from “memory improved by 75%”. Use the citation exercise below for a fictional practice case; do not paste private customer records or unpublished work.
Open Grok and check the account
Use the official Grok entry above. Check which account, region and plan are shown before entering material. Start with the chat access already available to you. If access is unavailable, keep the source and use the same worksheet with another approved assistant or by hand. This task does not require an upgrade or a second assistant.
Ask it to compare each claim with its source
Paste your numbered claims and labelled source excerpts. Ask: “For each claim, quote the supporting passage, give the supplied section or page, and mark supported, overstated, unsupported or cannot verify. Flag copied wording that needs quotation marks. Do not invent references or facts.” Keep using that conversation for corrections. If you need a source, Grok documents web and X search; treat any returned link as a lead to open yourself.
Open the source and repair one error
A link beside an answer does not prove the sentence is supported. Open the original publisher page and compare population, dates, units, qualifiers and quotation wording. A social post may describe a study without being the study. If the page is missing, ask for the original source; if it remains unavailable, label the claim unverified instead of accepting a plausible replacement.
Keep the checked wording and its evidence
Save a compact record: original claim, exact source passage, source URL or supplied locator, revised wording, and anything still unverified. Use the interactive citation exercise below to practise the repair and human checks. Copy your reviewed result before leaving the worksheet. Follow your school or publisher’s citation rules; do not use paraphrasing to hide copied work.
