Guide

Prepare source material without changing its meaning

Practise cleaning fictional project notes. Remove unnecessary personal details, keep source labels, numbers, approvals and sample limits, then check your edit before copying.

Follow the steps

This exercise runs in this page. It does not call an AI or upload your text. Edits are lost when you leave or reload; copy your work before leaving. Use fictional material, not sensitive information.

Step 1 of 3

Decide what the task actually needs

The fictional note is for a team update. Identify which personal details can be replaced with a role, then keep the source labels and facts needed to interpret progress. The fixed-answer exercise explains these choices; it does not scan real documents for private information.

Fictional teaching example

Original material

[S1] Lin is the project lead. Contact: lin@example.test. Draft dated 6 September 2026.
[S2] 18 of 24 invitations have been sent. Six await approval. Owner: Lin.
[S3] Proposed budget: CNY 3,000, not approved. Deadline: 10 September, provisional.
[S4] Two of eight pilot testers reported sign-in issues. This does not describe all customers.
You need a team update, not a contact list. What should you remove?

This checks the fixed teaching example only. It is not a privacy scanner for your own documents.

Read all steps
  1. Decide what the task actually needs

The fictional note is for a team update. Identify which personal details can be replaced with a role, then keep the source labels and facts needed to interpret progress. The fixed-answer exercise explains these choices; it does not scan real documents for private information.

  2. Edit a traceable source

Keep each source label beside the fact it supports. Compare a dangerous summary with a prepared example, then edit the material yourself. Removing a name must not remove responsibility, and shortening a sentence must not turn a proposal into approval.

  3. Check meaning before copying

Compare your edited text with the original. Review the invitation count, approval state, provisional date and pilot sample separately. These checks are your review, not an automatic factual verdict. Copy the prepared source before opening the Task that matches your intended output.
