Check an AI answer against its source

Find three errors in a fictional draft and fix them using the numbered sources. Then decide whether to use it, seek more evidence or leave it aside. Smooth writing can still be wrong.

Follow the steps

This exercise runs in this page. It does not call an AI or upload your text. Edits are lost when you leave or reload; copy your work before leaving. Use fictional material, not sensitive information.

Step 1 of 3

Find the unsupported claims

Compare each claim with the labelled source. Watch for changed counts, proposals presented as approvals and conclusions extended beyond a small sample. The draft is deliberately flawed teaching material, not a measured model result.

Fictional teaching example

Original material

[S1] 18 of 24 invitations were sent; six await approval.
[S2] CNY 3,000 is a proposed budget, not approved. The 10 September deadline is provisional.
[S3] Two of eight pilot testers reported sign-in problems. No result for all customers is available.

The draft below was deliberately written with errors for this lesson. It is not a recorded model response.

Which claims need correction or more evidence?
Read all steps
  1. Find the unsupported claims

Compare each claim with the labelled source. Watch for changed counts, proposals presented as approvals and conclusions extended beyond a small sample. The draft is deliberately flawed teaching material, not a measured model result.

  2. Repair the draft and preserve its limits

Write a correction with source markers beside the claims. Keep unresolved questions explicit rather than filling gaps. A reference correction explains the facts that must survive; it is not the only acceptable wording.

  3. Record your decision and next check

Decide whether the edited draft is usable for your purpose, needs more evidence or should not be used. State why and what happens next. Your checkmarks record that review; they do not certify arbitrary text as accurate.
