What it helps with and what to check

Good tasks to start with

  • Designers already using Adobe apps
  • Generative fill and image variations
  • Commercial creative workflows that need documented terms

Keep an eye on

  • Check the exact model and usage terms
  • Credit limits depend on the plan
  • Review rights for source and generated assets

How to start

1

Check access before spending time

Open the official Firefly website and check whether your account and country are supported. Adobe’s FAQ currently lists China among the places where Firefly is unavailable. Your AhaDo language setting does not determine access. If you cannot use it, prepare the brief below and stop before generation; that is preparation, not a completed Firefly exercise. Check the model’s credit cost before pressing Generate. No subscription purchase is required by this guide.

2

Give the image one clear job

Practice brief: a square illustration for a fictional neighbourhood book swap. Show a small stack of books and one potted plant on a table. Use warm green and cream colours. Keep the upper third mostly empty for a title added later. No people, logos, letters, dates or watermarks. Use this fictional brief or write your own purpose, main subject, layout and things to leave out. Do not upload a private photo or someone else’s artwork for this first exercise.

3

Generate the first version

In Firefly, choose Image → Generate image. In General settings, choose an available model and record its name; available settings depend on that choice. Set Aspect ratio to square and choose Art when that option is available. Paste your brief into Prompt, then select Generate. Record any prompt enhancement that was enabled. Inspect the result against your brief; a polished picture can still be the wrong picture.

4

Change one thing you can name

Compare the image with four questions: square shape, both requested subjects, clear title space, and no unwanted text or logos. If the plant fills the title space, change the brief to “Keep the books and small plant in the lower two thirds; leave the upper third as a plain cream background.” Keep the model and other settings stable when possible, generate again and compare. This is an authored correction example, not a tested Firefly output. If your first image already meets the brief, write what you checked instead of spending credits just to tick a box.

5

Download, then open the actual file

Use Firefly’s generated-image download controls; the official guide describes a list view for downloading generated variations. Open the downloaded file in your device’s image viewer. Check that it is the chosen version, opens correctly, has the square shape you need and leaves usable title space at the intended display size. If you need exact wording, add it as editable text in your usual editor; the Adobe sharing guide also describes Open in Adobe Express, but that is an optional extra tool. Verify every word after export. A thumbnail in the browser is not the saved file.

6

Keep the recipe and decide where it can go

Save a short note beside the image: model, prompt, reading/creation date, filename, what changed and what you checked. Before publishing or using it commercially, check the current terms for that exact model, any input material and any visible marks or identifiable people. Adobe’s general commercial-use statement is not clearance for every possible image. This practice stops at a reviewed local file; publishing is a separate choice. Return to the Firefly Tool page for tool details or compare other image tools for your next project.
